It’s 2023 and the world of blockchain technology is rapidly evolving and expanding, more individuals and businesses looking to take advantage of the benefits it offers while several others don’t plan to FOMO anytime soon, these people exist in every emerging space but this article is not about them.
Despite the rise in potential users, many are still fazed by complexity because the transition from traditional web 2.0 platforms to decentralized products can be a daunting one. In this article, I would be talking about dappOS; the bridge between web 2.0 users and web 3.0 products* and how it aims to make the transition to decentralized platforms as seamless and user-friendly as possible.
*using the title in the body reminded me of the time Neo said “the matrix” in the movie The Matrix(1999).
What is DappOS?
DappOS, short for decentralized application operating system, is a decentralized operating system that allows its users to access web 3.0 products through web 2.0 interfaces that they are familiar with. This means that users can continue to use the same apps and platforms they are used to, the only difference is the added level of security and decentralization of blockchain technology.
I believe that products that have the prospect to onboard the next billion users provide tangible solutions and DappOS is particularly useful for businesses as it allows them to integrate blockchain technology into their existing systems without having to completely overhaul their infrastructure.
Why DappOS?
Many other web3 products aim to solve the same or similar problem, so what makes DappOs different from both existing and prospective competitors?
dappOS tackles web3 complexity on two levels;
- Account creation and management of the dApp.
- Workflow of the dApp.
dappOS will address these two problems by building a middle layer between users and crypto infrastructures. Users only need to interact with dappOS and it will help the users to interact with crypto infrastructures and execute workflows automatically, read more here.
dappOS has the potential to support a wide range of blockchain platforms. The operating system will be able to support dApps built on different blockchain platforms, such as Ethereum, EOS, and TRON. This will allow users to access dApps built on different blockchain platforms through a single interface, making it even easier for them to discover and use new dApps.
In addition to its user-friendly interface and support for multiple blockchain platforms, dappOS has the ability to provide users with more control over their data. With traditional web 2.0 platforms, users are often required to give up control of their personal information to third-party companies. With DappOS, users have full control over their data, as it is stored on the blockchain and can only be accessed with their permission. This means that users can share their data with businesses or other entities without having to worry about it being misused or sold to third parties, a solid feature in an era where users are becoming more conscious of their data.
How DappOS works
A typical DappOS workflow can be summarized in 3 steps:
- The user initiates an order by providing a signature that validates the entire process, which may involve interactions on different blockchain networks, the transfer of assets and the payment of fees to use the DappOS network.
- The order is then assigned to a permissionless node, which ensures the order is executed correctly or compensates for any loss incurred by the user.
- The chosen node will complete all necessary tasks, including transferring assets and executing on-chain transactions from the user’s virtual wallet to the dApp contract, motivated by the reward.
It promises to get better…
DappOS is compiling a frontend SDK that contains installable web3 packages. Developers do not have to keep redeploying their current contract because it promises to serve as a one-stop shop for most of the widely acceptable chains with neater execution in less time. To get an early access to the SDK, write a mail to contact@dappos.com stating your interest and what you hope to build.
In conclusion, DappOS is a powerful and exciting new technology that has the potential to greatly increase the accessibility of web3 products for non-technical users. With its user-friendly interface, support for multiple blockchain platforms, and advanced security measures, it is poised to become a key player in the world of decentralized applications.
As blockchain technology and web3 products continue to evolve and gain mainstream adoption, DappOS will play a crucial role in making it easy for users to access and benefit from these innovative technologies.
